Some early favorites of mine -- Elizabeth Lundberg Morisette, Katie McKelvie, Steve Strawn, and Novie Trump. As in previous years, there's a lot of not-so-good, BUT, as always there are definitely some gems. Thanks also to everyone that showed up. However, currently we've been meeting out at a bar or cafe to make smaller drawings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This past Monday, we met at the &lt;a href="http://www.argonautdc.com" target="_blank"&gt;Argonaut&lt;/a&gt; - Rated "Best New Bar" by the Art Monday group - it is by far the best spot we've found to work, and the staff seem to genuinely appreciate us being there! I'm already getting nervous about being prepared because I'm a notorious procrastinator. I'm feeling good about it though, because I'm off to a great start. This past weekend I spent some time at the &lt;a href="http://www.washglass.com" target="_blank"&gt;Washington Glass School&lt;/a&gt; working on a glass piece for the show.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I start with a woodblock carving (which I will later pull prints from)...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.waldroff.com/blog/images/DSC00914.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;Then, thanks to the wonders of a technique the fellas at the Glass School have been developing, I create a cast glass replica of the carving...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.waldroff.com/blog/images/DSC00918.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.waldroff.com/blog/images/DSC00916.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.waldroff.com/blog/images/DSC00917.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;This opens the door to a lot of possibilities and fulfills a personal goal of mine to expand printmaking methods into other mediums. It's simple, they give a topic each Friday, and everyone illustrates it. Obviously, the topic this week is cats. Why? Who knows about the insomnia, but as for getting up too early...looks like once a month, God willin' and the creek don't rise, I'll be helping out at &lt;a href="http://www.miriamskitchen.org/" target="_blank"&gt;Miriam's Kitchen&lt;/a&gt;. The shift runs from 6 to 8. I'm not writing this to toot my horn, I'm writing as segue to: &lt;B&gt;it's cold and people need clothes&lt;/b&gt;. SO if you have clothes that are in good shape that you'd like to get rid of, &lt;a href="http://www.miriamskitchen.org/howtohelp/htsu.html#items" target="_blank"&gt;check out what they are currently in need of&lt;/a&gt;.
